My Heart Cries Holy

My Heart Cries Holy, the new worship song from Scott Brenner & Levites, is the first digital single release from their upcoming new album Surrender (due to be released in the Spring of 2020). My Heart Cries Holy centers thematically on the grace of God revealed through both the mystery of the Incarnation and the humility of the cross.

The song begins by focusing on the wisdom of God revealed though Christ’s incarnation: “Wise men bow before Him.” Here, we find not only a reference to the magi who came bearing gifts seeking to worship the newborn King of the Jews, but also a reference to ourselves as worshipers of Christ. The apostle Paul speaks of Christ as “the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory…” 1 Cor. 2:7. The incarnation of Christ is hidden wisdom, in that it is not outwardly obvious or readily seen. It is therefore wise seekers who find and adore Him. As Emmanuel, God With Us, Christ as creator and redeemer fully participates in His own creation by becoming fully human. This revelation is at once mysterious and wonderful. Christ’s humanity is revealed not only though His incarnation, but also though His intentional sufferings on our behalf. Christ’s willingness to fully participate in the sufferings and sorrows of humanity overwhelms us in the best and highest sense. What amazing love is this? The humility and vulnerability of Christ are emphasized through weaving together these central themes of incarnation and crucifixion. The chorus powerfully resonates in responsive awe of Him:

And My Heart Cries Holy And My Heart Cries Holy And My Heart Cries Holy Is Our King God With Us, Emmanuel

The song’s bridge emphasize how Christ “laid aside His glory” in order to ransom fallen humanity. Once again, it is this humility of Christ (the hidden wisdom of God) that is central to Christ’s mission in seeking and saving the lost). Through pride, man fell, whereas through humility, Christ redeems.

The song concludes in its last verse by reminding us that the greatest gift is the incarnate redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. The gifts of our responsive worship offered freely to God, while aptly due, can never compare to the greatest gift of all, which ultimately is Christ Himself.

MY HEART CRIES HOLY is a love song of gratitude and adoration from all of us to Christ. Praise God for His marvelous gift, the indescribable mystery of the incarnation of Jesus Christ, the redeemer and savior of the world!

God So Loved the World

The worship song God So Loved The World by Scott Brenner focuses directly on the saving message of the gospel. Its chorus is taken directly from John 3:16, which joyfully reminds us of the comforting promise of the gospel message. This powerful chorus calls to mind the scriptural text from Book of Zephaniah in which God tells us that He sings songs of salvation over His people. Sung as a positive statement of God’s love, this scriptural chorus resonates as a powerful worship anthem that anchors us in the security of God’s saving grace.

The verse is likewise based on scripture, focusing us on the reality that God’s faithfulness is sure, dependable and unending (as high as the heavens). The bridge is a reflection and response of gratitude to the gospel, anchored in the reality that we will worship God forever because of God’s faithful love in Christ. The powerful song tag which declares “I Believe” brings us as worshipers deeper into an encounter of God’s saving embrace through faith in the risen Son of God, Jesus Christ.

For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son That whoever believes in Him should never die but have eternal life I Believe in the risen Son of God  I Believe

GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD is currently translated into Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and French. It is currently performed by various congregations around the world. It is a powerful expression of the gospel through which worshipers may experience the powerful promise of God’s salvation, healing and restoration.
